Salles Curan evening market

It has become something of a tradition between us receptionnist girls to visit the nearby evening market of Salles Curan every Tuesday evening. Here we feast on local aveyronnais delicacies and treats, as well as enjoying the general market ambience and getting the opportunity to, as the French like to say, boire un coup, at the end of the evening.

The market is fairly small but compact and features stalls from aveyronnais nuts to a man selling solely garlic and a stall with fantastic varieties of local wine, largely from the famous vineyards of Marcillac. There is often live music, typically of the aveyronnais variety, and sometimes you may even get treated to a display of traditional regional dancing in the town square.

Two of us are vegetarian, and we were pleasantly delighted to find a vegetarian stall with delicious middle-eastern inspired recipes (well she sells chocolate brownies as well but still...), although there are multiple tasty choices for the more carnivorous of us as well: another of our colleagues is a big foie-gras fan and can't wait to get the foie-gras burger combination, cooked in front of you at the stall, whose farm is located regionally.

After choosing our food for the evening we tend to sit down outside either on one of the food tables or in nicer weather on the beautiful lawn behind the town hall, offering a fantastic view over the Pareloup Lake and surrounding region. after having eaten we often go for a drink at the nearby restaurant La Pierrade, which has a lovely assortment of outside tables where you can soak up the atmoshere of the evening market going on around you.

So I would highly recommend campers at Le Caussanel to take a visit on Tuesday evenings to the nearby town of Salles Curan (about a ten minute drive), for an evening full of local degustation and generally tasty food.
